The Maria & Juan Chronicle
A big-hearted celebration
Maria & Juan Are Married
After seven years together, Maria & Juan are married — amid a joyful crowd of everyone they love, at last at a garden estate overlooking Taal.
By the Setnayan Desk · Tagaytay
Under a sky that cleared just in time, Maria and Juan were married on a garden lawn high above Taal, the lake holding the afternoon light like a held breath. One hundred and twenty guests rose as she came down a path lined with white blooms; by the time she reached him, neither was bothering to hide the tears.
The ceremony was short and unhurried — vows traded in a near-whisper, a kiss the front rows swore they could hear. At the reception that followed, long tables ran the length of the lawn beneath strings of warm light, and the kitchen sent out course after course while the toasts ran long and the laughter ran longer.
They danced their first dance to the kundiman that has followed them since a despedida in Quezon City, and closed the night the way they began — side by side, in no hurry for the day to end.
